The YESS Event is the flagship event of the Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force. The Youth Empowerment Safety Symposium (YESS) is a mix of fun and games and music and sporting events and education and awareness opportunities. The YESS event will be held on 13 April 2024 at the Long Beach Salvation Army.
Teacher, vendor, student, organization, volunteer, parent, speakefr, etc - whatever your intended participation is, please sign up at the external YESS Event sign up page.
This is your chance to spend part or all of the day learning about human trafficking and finding resources for those in need.
The 2024 YESS (Youth Empowerment Safety Symposium) brings you a free screening of MAYA - a must-see feature film for parents
and youth that sheds light on child trafficking, online predators, domestic violence, and substance abuse.
There will be a wide variety of volunteers and organizations at the YESS Event so that attendees can learn about human trafficking and
find resources as needed. Expected people and resources include:
Volunteers will be wearing "I AM NOT FOR SALE" t-shirts so that you can readily find them and learn.
We expect the presence of the human-size Barbie box to remind guests that we do not tolerate human trafficking in any form.
Expected volunteers from: CAST, ChildNet, Esther Ministry of St. Joseph Church, Galilee Instititute, Helpline Youth Counseling, LA County Dept of Public Health, LB City College, Junior League of LB, LB Police Dept, LBPTSA, National Council of Jewish Women, Residence Inn, Soroptimists of Downey, Sigma Gamma Rho, Volunteers of America LA, Casa Youth Shelter, and USC MSW.
